South End Loft Build-Out
As the excitement of an open-plan loft space subsided and the realities of clearly defined spaces and storage solutions become a need rather than a want, our clients in the South End of Boston asked us to convert their 1000+ square feet of unfinished loft apartment into a functional two-bedroom for them and their yet to be born twin boys. We separated the plan into color coated zones of privacy, giving the clients separated bedrooms and closet space.
The Jar-Curran residence stands as an example of a newly emerging urban housing type; the unfinished luxury loft space. The Boston area’s surplus of abandoned factory buildings have become desirable real-estate for urban dwellers looking for spaces somewhere between the historic and the modern.
